In some classes, when creating APA reference citations, you may be asked to use a DOI link that does NOT contain ezproxy.umuc.

Here is how you can do that:

In an EBSCO database you can generate an APA citation like this:

  1. Click the article title
  2. On the right, click on "Cite"
  3. In the middle of the page, scroll down to the APA citation, which you can then copy

But when you use the "Cite" tool in EBSCO, it generates an APA citation that does contain ezproxy.umuc in the DOI link. It will often look like this:

DeSanctis, G., & Jackson, B. M. (1994). Coordination of information technology management: Team-based structures and computer-based communication systems. Journal of Management Information Systems, 10(4), 85–110. https://doi-org.ezproxy.umuc.edu/10.1080/07421222.1994.11518021

If your assignment requirements tell you NOT to use exproxy.umuc, change that link this way:

  1. Change doi-org to doi.org (change the hyphen to a dot)
  2. Delete this part: .ezproxy.umuc.edu (delete the first dot, delete ezproxy.umuc.edu, and leave in the forward slash)

That will give you a DOI link that looks like this:

https://doi.org/10.1080/07421222.1994.11518021

That DOI link will go to the article record that is publicly available on the web. And it will comply with the requirement, in certain classes, not to use ezproxy.umuc in an APA reference citation.
